What if I open a legacy map in the new editor?

This article applies to all users.

Legacy maps opened in the new editor will be permanently converted to the new editor.

If you'd prefer to continue using the legacy editor, do not open your maps in the new editor.

Map Conversion Explained

If you attempt to open a legacy map in the new editor, you'll receive the following pop-up message:

Clicking Continue will permanently convert your mind map to the new editor. Only click this option if you are absolutely sure you do not want to continue using the legacy editor.

Permanent Conversion

Maps converted to the new editor cannot be reverted to the legacy editor, even by Meister developers.

Set Preferences to Use the Legacy Editor

If you're concerned about accidentally converting any mind maps, you can set your account preferences to no longer open the new editor by default. To do this:

  1. Open MindMeister.
  2. Click your user avatar in the top-right corner of the MindMeister interface.
  3. Select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
  4. Uncheck the box labeled "Always use the new map editor."
