When you make one of your mind maps public, it will automatically appear in your public map channel (as well as in our public map library). The channel displays your name, your user-avatar, your description, website if applicable, and all of your publicly accessible mind maps.
You can change your public map channel description by clicking on My Account.
To access your public map channel, go to your MindMeister dashboard and select Public from the navigation bar on the left. Click on Show My Public Channel in the top right-hand corner.
If a person stumbles across one of your public maps and subsequently likes it, chances are, they will visit your channel to see the author behind it and whether there are any more useful maps that have been created by you. That’s why a well-managed map channel is not just a great resource for others, but also an advertisement for you and your work. Here are a few tips on how to get the most out of your channel:
- Provide a good description about who you are and what your public maps are about
- Upload a friendly profile picture (avatar)
- Add a link to your website or blog to drive traffic there
- And add a link to your public map channel to your LinkedIn, Facebook pages as well as any other profiles you might have
If you click on the My Feed button (found to the left in the navigation bar of your public map channel), you will be able to see maps created by people you follow. You will also be able to see the users that you are following as well as the users that are following your channel.
This view is also where you can Unfollow users. Simply uncheck the relevant user's Following button by clicking on it.
