Copy and Paste (Old Version)

Old Article

Watch out! This article refers to the old version of MindMeister. If you're a new user, head over to this article to find the most up-to-date information on this topic.

MindMeister offers a number of practical copy-paste features that will help you duplicate and insert elements into your mind maps more efficiently. Here's a quick overview of the best tips and tricks:

Pasting Images

Images copied to your clipboard (for instance from a Google Images search) can directly be pasted onto a topic in your mind map. Just select the topic and press they keyboard shortcut  Ctrl⌘ V. You will then be able to select whether you want the image inserted as a visible image or just attached as a file.

Pasting Links

Links copied to your clipboard can directly be pasted onto a topic as well. Regular links will automatically be attached via the link widget. Image links pasted onto a node automatically insert the respective image, and video links (from YouTube, Vimeo or DailyMotion) automatically attach the video to the topic.

Pasting Text

You can paste text copied to your clipboard directly into a mind map without having to create a new topic for it first. The text will be inserted as a child of whichever topic is currently selected. If the text consists of multiple paragraphs, MindMeister will ask you whether you want to copy the whole text into one topic or split it into multiple ones.

Pasting Topics/Branches (Between Browsers)

Last but not least, if you’re logged into your MindMeister account in two different browsers at the same time, you are also able to copy and paste topics or whole branches between open mind maps in these browsers.

Simply hold the Ctrl key pressed and drag a rectangle around the topics you wish to copy.

Then use the Ctrl + C keyboard shortcut to copy the topics to your clipboard.

Select the topic where you want to add the copied topics and use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V to paste the topics.
