Search for and Filter Mind Maps (Old Version)

Old Article

Watch out! This article refers to the old version of MindMeister. If you're a new user, head over to this article to find the most up-to-date information on this topic.

1. Search for Mind Maps from Your Dashboard

You can search for mind maps straight from your dashboard. Simply navigate to the search field at the top right corner of your dashboard and enter the keyword or title that you're looking for.

By default, MindMeister will first automatically search for titles of mind maps that match the keyword you entered.

If you would like to search for a keyword within the content of your mind maps as well, switch from search Title to Title & Contents.

2. Filter Mind Maps From Your Dashboard

You can filter your mind maps using the navigation bar on the left.

Click on Recents to show your newly created as well as the most recently edited mind maps.

Click on Favorites to show mind maps that you've marked as favorites.

(You can mark a map as a favorite by dragging and dropping any one of the maps in your map list into Favorites located in the left sidebar).

Click on Public to show maps that you've made public.

Click on Trash to show maps that you've moved into the trash.

3. You Can Also Search Within a Mind Map

While inside the map editor, you can use the key shortcut Ctrl+F to search your mind map. You can also use the search field; first, click on it and then type in your search term. The search field can be found on the upper right corner of your screen.

If you click on the downward pointing arrow (small triangle) located next to the magnifying glass in the search field, a dropdown menu will appear. The dropdown menu contains advanced search categories where you can further specify your search request by:

Idea caption: This searches text within topics.

Editing user: By typing in the name of one of your map's collaborators, this option yields results of all topics that were edited by that particular user.

Task owner: This highlights all tasks assigned to a specific user.

Icon: This searches the map for specific icons used within topics.
