Are Viewer seats available for both MeisterTask and MindMeister?

No, a Viewer seat is only available for MeisterTask. MindMeister does not offer a Viewer seat.

What is a seat?

A user's seat defines their access to the product. Meister offers two products: MindMeister and MeisterTask.

MindMeister

The seat in MindMeister determines what access users can have in MindMeister. MindMeister only offers one type of seat:

  • A Content Manager seat.

If a user gets a Content Manager seat, this means that the user has access to MindMeister. MindMeister does not offer a seat for Viewer.

MeisterTask

The seat in MeisterTask determines what access users can have in MeisterTask. MeisterTask offers two different types of seats:

  • A Content Manager seat
  • A Viewer seat

These seats determine which project role can be assigned to a user in a project.

What does the absence of a Viewer seat mean for teams that use both MindMeister and MeisterTask?

A team that uses both MindMeister and MeisterTask can have an unlimited number of Viewer seats within the MeisterTask plan.

Viewer licenses are only available for MeisterTask, not for MindMeister.

As the seats for both products are managed separately, team members who have been added to MeisterTask as a Viewer will not automatically get access to MindMeister. To be able to access MindMeister, these users need a license for Mindmeister:

  • either a seat as a Content Manager
  • or the users can access mind maps as an anonymous, unregistered user.

FAQs

Does MindMeister have read-only access?
Yes, MindMeister offers read-only access to mind maps. This access is defined and assigned directly in each mind map by the Content Manager the mind map.

If I assign a Viewer seat to a user in MeisterTask, does this give them access to MindMeister?
No, assigning Viewer seats in MeisterTask does not automatically grant access to MindMeister. These users need a separate license for MindMeister, e.g. a Content Manager seat or access as an anonymous, non-logged-in user, to use MindMeister.

What is the difference between view-only access in MindMeister and MeisterTask?

  • In MeisterTask, a Viewer seat is a defined seat that restricts the user to the Viewer role within projects system-wide.
  • In MindMeister, it is not possible to purchase a Viewer seat. Instead, you can set the read-only authorization individually in each mind map.
