Edit with AI lets you refine an existing mind map with a set of AI actions. You can expand or shorten the text on a topic, add notes, restyle a branch, or reorganize your whole map — without starting over.

Open Edit with AI

You can open Edit with AI from any topic on your map:

1. Select a topic on your map.
2. On the floating toolbar, click the AI (✨) button — the first item on the toolbar. Hovering over it shows the label Edit with AI.
3. Choose an action from the menu.

Edit a Single Topic and Its Branch

When you select a topic and open Edit with AI, the following actions apply to that topic and its branch:

• Expand content — adds more detail to the topic and its subtopics.
• Shorten text — makes the wording more concise.
• Add notes — generates notes for the topic and its subtopics.
• Apply styling — applies styling to the topic and its branch.

Edit Your Whole Map

When you select the central topic and open Edit with AI, three whole-map actions appear at the top of the menu, above a separator:

• Group related topics — identifies and groups related topics together.
• Tidy up map — cleans up and reorganizes your map.
• Balance layout — arranges your topics into a more balanced layout.

Below the separator, the four content actions — Expand content, Shorten text, Add notes, and Apply styling — are also available and apply to the whole map.

Where Can I Use Edit with AI?

Edit with AI is available in the web app only, which you can use in any browser. It is not available in the MindMeister mobile apps. The feature is available on all plans and is currently in Beta.

How Many Edit with AI Actions Can I Use?

During Beta you can use up to 5 Edit with AI actions per day. This daily limit is shared across all Edit with AI actions, and it resets each day.
