Meister AI features in MindMeister, such as Generate with AI and Refine with AI, use AI credits. Each user receives a monthly allowance of AI credits based on their plan.
This article explains how AI credits work, how many you get, and what happens when you run out.
What Is an AI Credit?
AI credits measure how much you use Meister AI. Each of the following actions costs 100 AI credits:
- Creating a mind map with Generate with AI
- Running any Refine with AI action on a mind map
Currently, every action costs the same number of credits.
How Many AI Credits Do I Get?
Each user receives the following AI credits per month:
- Free Basic plan: 500 credits — enough for 5 map creations or edits
- Personal: 2,000 credits — enough for 20 map creations or edits
- Pro: 5,000 credits — enough for 50 map creations or edits
- Business: unlimited credits (fair use applies)
Fair use on the Business plan
Business users have unlimited AI credits, subject to fair use. If you reach the fair-use limit, you'll see the message: "You've hit the fair-usage limit of Meister AI. Your credits will reset next month."
Are AI Credits Shared With My Team?
No. Each user has their own AI credits. Credits are not shared or pooled across your team, so one team member's usage does not affect the credits available to others.
When Do My AI Credits Reset?
AI credits reset on the 1st of each calendar month for all users. The reset date does not depend on your billing date.
How Can I Check How Many AI Credits I've Used?
To track your AI credit usage:
- Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen.
- The profile menu shows:
- how many AI credits you've used
- a progress bar of your usage
- the date your credits reset
- an Upgrade button
What Happens When I Run Out of AI Credits?
When you've used all of your AI credits, you'll see a No AI credits remaining message. The message tells you when your credits reset and offers an Upgrade button.
- If you're an admin, you can upgrade your plan to get more AI credits.
- If you're not an admin, you'll be asked to contact your admin.
Otherwise, your AI credits are refilled automatically on the 1st of the next month.
